About the Split PDF tool
You can split a PDF entirely in your browser — no software to install, no file upload, and no account required. The conversion runs on the pdf-lib and pdf.js libraries, running as plain JavaScript directly on your device.
Writing page ranges
The selected pages are saved together as one new PDF. To get several separate files, run the tool once per range.
- Single pages: 2, 7
- Ranges: 1-3 (pages 1, 2 and 3)
- Mixed: 1-3, 5, 8-9
- Pages are numbered from 1, as shown in your PDF reader; the tool shows how many pages the PDF has
Quality
Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text, images and layout are unchanged. Files up to 200MB are supported.

Troubleshooting
- "isn't a valid page range"
- Use numbers, commas and hyphens only, like 1-3, 5. Check the range doesn't go past the last page.
- Password-protected PDF won't open
- Save an unprotected copy from your PDF reader first, then split that.
FAQ
- Is my file uploaded anywhere?
- No. Your file is read and processed inside this browser tab and never leaves your device. You can confirm it in your browser's developer tools: the Network tab shows no upload.
- Does it reduce quality when you split a PDF?
- No. Pages are copied into the new PDF exactly as they are: text, images and vector graphics are not re-encoded. Document-level extras such as bookmarks may not carry over.
- Is there a file size limit?
- Yes: 200MB per file. There's no account and no limit on how many files you convert.
